About Camden County
Known as Georgia’s Coastal Community of Choice bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Camden County is made up of three cities – St. Marys, Kingsland and Woodbine. Waverly, Tarboro, White Oak, Colesburg, Dover Bluff, and Harriett’s Bluff are among the smaller communities located throughout the County that are not incorporated.
Our town’s prime location along Interstate 95 allows for convenient access to major airports, such as Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) and Brunswick Golden Isles Airport (BWK), shopping centers, and beaches, while being just far away enough to enjoy a quaint, small town life.
Fishing and boating on our local waterways are popular activities in which residents take part. Additionally, our area is home to several golf courses and recreational parks.

Area Highlights
St. Marys is the gateway to Cumberland Island, the largest and southernmost barrier island in Georgia, known for secluded beaches and wild horses.
Crooked River State Park is the perfect spot for enjoying the Intracoastal Waterway and maritime forest. This Georgia State Park offers camping, fishing, hiking, as well as a boat launch, dock and bait shop.
Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base is located in St. Marys and is the U.S. Atlantic Fleet’s home port for U.S. Navy Fleet submarines. The base is home to many base subcontractors including Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Trident Refit and Training Facilities and more.
Camden County Schools serves the diverse needs of over 9,000 students between nine elementary schools, two middle schools and one comprehensive high school with a 9th Grade Center.
Camden County is also home to community colleges and universities, including: College of Coastal Georgia – Camden Campus, Brenau University – Jacksonville Campus, Coastal Pines Technical College, and Troy University.
